Bali Photographer / Thoughts and Portfolio

About

My passion in photography started since my early childhood when my Dad lent me an old Canon QL. It has been quite old even when I was using it sometime around 1982-1985, which finally broken and no longer repairable. Whilst I did not have enough money to buy another one, my interest in photography has not stopped though I could do nothing more than reading photography books and magazines.

When I got my first job, I started to save money since the first month’s salary, which yielded a Nikon F501 camera, Nikkor AF 35-70mm F3.3-4.5 lens, and Nikon SB23 flashlight after about a year. I guess it was around 1992 or something. Unfortunately I did not have enough money to pay film rolls and processing cost whilst my job started to take more than time I had available. The camera locked in its box for years, but wherever my job relocated me, the box came along. So I guess my love to photography remained the same.

Just recently, starting about 2 years ago, I was appealed to photography with an influence of a few new friends I got. As my life moved forward, I built a bit of fortune allowing me to get a few new gears, and digital does not require film rolls and expensive processing anyway. Within the last two years I have changed my camera twice. Started with a Nikon D40x which then replaced by Nikon D200, I ended up leaving Nikon for a Canon EOS 5D.

With so long of story, I have never found myself a professional photographer. So far, and I guess will last forever, photography is a passionate hobby. I am an amateur enthusiast, period. I would be pleased if sometime someone pay me for my photographic work, but I have no intention to make it a profession. I guess the money will go no farther than buying some more gear.

I have chosen my profession.
Photography will remain a passionate hobby forever.
